about

Maturing through the experiences of growing older is one thing; becoming a “grown up” is a whole other sack of shit. As one of the lucky ones to be marched through the ranks of formal education without being entirely stripped of my ability to dream, I try to protect my soul from the Trojan horse called career ambition. But it’s tough when virtually everyone around me has already surrendered their childhood to the Occupation, baited by quick factory-food and a phone. To not get devoured in this slow-motion zombie apocalypse (aka: consumerism), sometimes I just gotta act like I’m one of ‘em. But that’s different than becoming one of them. It’s like being an undercover agent, but for lawless liberty and disorderly love. I know it’d be easier to just “grow up”, but I always feel that wild flame burning, and can’t stand suffering through the motions while secretly seething. Most will merely smoulder life away, smothering their crazy glimmer of hope that maybe one day some Great Revolution will liberate them from wage slavery. But no one has to wait! The Great Evolution is happening every day! Join the pack that’s straying away from mindless metropolitan madness! Love the Players, lose the Game! A big organization, corporate or governmental, can’t be respected like a person because it isn’t a person. They are vast hierarchies of fabricated, concentrated, unjustified, superficial, abusive power... and power corrupts. These are nonhuman and inhumane, and it causes no harm to the friendly warmth of the world to covertly inflict damage on the control mechanisms. It’s not crazy to imagine a warmer world. But dreams are just a cold match… until you strike!

lyrics

If I grow up, I wanna be an anarchist, ‘cuz I am pissed!
I don’t want to go to kindergarten, I’m life’s just startin’,
I wanna stay in the garden and play, and learn things the hard way!

You can take me off your knee,
But you can’t take the kid outta me!
You can chop down all you can see,
But you won’t get me out of the tree,
Fabricate me a world, and blind me from the Earth!
I’ll still feel it in my bones, and fight for all it’s worth

If I grow up, I wanna be a vigilante, and set the whole world free!
Burn down the parliaments, disarm all the armaments,
Cut the phone wires and smash the cell towers,
Blow up the servers and kill all the power!

You can corrupt my innocence, but you can’t teach me ignorance!
You can put me in front of a TV,
But you can’t point my eyes to the screen!
Train away my nature! Bow to the legislature!
It’ll do nothing to calm my fight to show everybody the light

If I grow up, I think I should become the new Robin Hood,
And hide deep in the woods,
Individual Reclamation: just stealing from corporations,
I’ll share my loot with the poor, then go back for more!

This consumerist way is wrong, I don’t wanna play along!
The left they want pa’s profits! The right they want ma’s credits!
I don’t wanna eat this food! It ain’t made how it should!
Give your baby formula a rest, Mama’s tit knows what’s best!

If I grow up, I wanna be a shepherd of lost sheep,
A dirty hippy on the street,
Spread good news in sandals, hang out with whores and vandals,
Give up all my possessions, and love to the point of obsession….
…but I probably won’t

So I’ll break all of my crayons! And kick over the pylons!
Sneak into your back lawn, and steal your garden gnome!
Slap me high-five and pull my finger,
Eat my socks all soaked in vinegar!
I’m a brat, a little shit!
A punk full of boogers and spit!

But I’ll never let you know,
‘Cuz I’ll never let it show,
I’ll always keep a cool head,
And do what Mama said,
A pirate snake in the grass,
A mystery pain in the ass,
If I grow up I’ll be me,
But for now I’ll just be crazy

about

Fort Mutiny British Columbia

Fort Mutiny is a vision. Not a flawless utopia, but a lawless tribe of defiant free-spirits, brewing up a more natural life. How could such a dream be kindled? Music is a great place to start: uncensored honesty, fueled by personal journals, put to all-acoustic instrumentation. It doesn't matter who wrote it. What matters is that, if you belong at Fort Mutiny, these tunes may help you get there. ... more
