When the first ape stood up, noticed the stars above, and wondered to itself “what the… ?”, it was a miraculous evolution. To question is truly human… but now, many only ask the questions that Google can answer. We take experts at their word, authority as given, law as truth, property as permanent, and we sit down, shut up, and stay in line. Too many of us allow ourselves to be subdued and sedated until we can’t hear that voice inside us saying: “what the…?” Maybe some can’t hear that little voice anymore, but we can all feel its confusion and frustration. Yes, we all have so much to be thankful for, but it’s our nature to ask questions, as well as to act upon the answers revealed by our unique experiences. Humanity is too complex to fit into black and white regulations. Putting universal rights and freedoms officially onto paper is a slap in nature’s face, especially when subsequent legislation walks around them anyway. Each of us can choose to either roll over and remain knuckle-dragging apes… or stand up and fight for the path we feel is right. These are my questions… what are yours?
lyrics
Should I fight for my right to the bitter end?
Or just say “fuck it”, and get drunk with my friends,
I know which road’s easier, but don’t know which way is right
Oh the way, got me again,
Society’s fucked, but maybe it’s ok that way,
At least I’m not starving, diseased or broken,
Enslaved or in chains, suffering in pain, or dead in a grave
Should I just say the government’s good enough,
You know it could be worse, just let ‘em do their thing,
And fuck us all over, for the power to buy which way is right
Oh the plain old revolution
Is only man-made, it can’t always save the day,
Change must come from within, it’s called evolution,
It’s nature’s way, I don’t need to say, it’s the only way
Fort Mutiny is a vision. Not a flawless utopia, but a lawless tribe of defiant free-spirits, brewing up a more natural life.
How could such a dream be kindled? Music is a great place to start: uncensored honesty, fueled by personal journals, put to all-acoustic instrumentation. It doesn't matter who wrote it. What matters is that, if you belong at Fort Mutiny, these tunes may help you get there....more
